RISC OS was an operating system used by Acorn Computers' line of Archimedes PCs. Digital Symphony was a music sequencing studio available for RISC OS. It allowed composers to create everything from classical compositions to rave music.

Music created by Digital Symphony could be saved in the program's proprietary Digital Symphony Module, or DSYM, format. This compressed audio format is now mostly obsolete, but sequencer enthusiasts and historians sometimes share DSYM files with each other online.
