H&R Block 2021 Tax Return

The 2021 version of H&R Block Tax Software (for Windows and macOS) creates and periodically saves a user's tax return progress in a T21 file. This allows users to take a break from filling out their tax return and resume their progress by loading the T21 file.

The program also creates a T21 file when users back up their tax returns for archival purposes. To create this backup, users select File → Backup Tax Return .

By default, H&R Block Tax Software 2021 saves T21 files in the following directory:

~/​Documents/​HR Block

MyTaxes.t21 - Default filename given to H&R Block 2021 tax return files, although you can rename the file.

You can open a T21 file with H&R Block Tax Software (2021 or later) in Windows and macOS. You can also import a T21 file into the 2022 version of H&R Block Tax Software, to use the information it contains to start your 2022 tax return.

You can use H&R Block Tax Software 2021 to save the tax return a T21 file contains as a .PDF (Portable Document Format) file. To do so, open the T21 file in H&R Block Tax Software 2021 and select File → Save As PDF... .

You can then use the PDF file as an easily-accessible backup of your 2021 tax return. You can also import the PDF file into other tax software if, for example, you decide to use another program to file your 2022 taxes.
