DeSmuME uses its internal BIOS and firmware for loading and executing ROMs. If DesMuME has all of the external BIOS and firmware images loaded it can then perform a full NDS boot. You cannot load an external firmware image for DeSmuME on Linux systems.

NOTE: Changing the file extension from ".dsv" to ".sav" may allow a DSV file to be opened by other Nintendo DS emulators.
