A PGD file may also be a video game created by Pocket Game Developer (PGD), a discontinued 2D game development app for Android. It is a Zip-compressed file that contains all the game's source code and assets. Developers can export and import PGD files in Pocket Game Developer.

More Information

Amateur game developers use Stray Pixel Games Pocket Game Developer to create simple 8-bit video games. They can then play these games in Pocket Game Developer and share them with other PGD users.

To share a game with others, a developer must export the game as a PGD file. This file is a renamed ZIP archive that contains all the game's data. To export a game as a PGD file, developers open the Game Settings menu (while editing their game), then select Export Game .

How to open a PGD file

You can open a PGD file in Pocket Game Developer (Android). To do so, select Import Games from the app's main menu. Then, navigate to and open your PGD file.

If you want to view the constituent files a PGD file contains, you can do so by renaming the file to use the .ZIP extension, then expanding it as you would any ZIP file.
