What is a XIF file? XIF (eXtended Image Format) file originally created for the ScanSoft Pagis scanning software; designed as an extension to the .TIFF format for storing text documents as images; separates the image into four layers: Text layer for optical character recognition ( OCR ) Layer for text colors Color image segments layer Background tint layer NOTE: ScanSoft is now Nuance Communications. The XIF file format is still supported by some Nuance applications.
