A LEMON file may also be a text file used by Sonic 3: Angel Island Revisited, a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game created by developer Eukaryot. It contains a script used to modify Sonic 3: A.I.R.'s gameplay. LEMON files can be opened and edited using any text editor.
More Information
Sonic 3 A.I.R. is an unofficial add-on Sonic fans can use to enhance the Steam version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. After installing both the original game and Sonic 3 A.I.R., players can play a remastered version of Sonic 3, featuring improved gameplay, graphics, and the ability to mod the game.
One way players can mod Sonic 3 A.I.R. is by creating plain-text scripts, saved within LEMON files, that the game's underlying game engine (called the Oxygen Engine) reads, runs, and applies to the game. For example, players can create scripts that assign new theme music to levels and characters, and they can create scripts that enhance Sonic, Knuckles, or Tails' abilities.
To use a LEMON script as a mod, players must store it in the Sonic3AIR/mods/scripts folder. Players can also find template LEMON scripts within the game's bonus and sonic3air_dev/scripts folders.
How to open a LEMON file
Because they are plain text files, you can open and edit a Sonic 3 A.I.R. LEMON script in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or Github Atom (cross-platform).
