An MNO file may also be a saved game created by Westwood Studios Monopoly, a video game version of the classic board game. It contains a record of a user's in-progress Monopoly game. MNO files record a game's players, used and unused Chance and Community Chest cards, property status, current cash distribution, and other data.
More Information
Westwood Studios, a division of Hasbro Electronic Entertainment, published several popular video games in the 1990s. In 1995, the studio released a video game version of Monopoly. The game allowed players to play against AI, local, and online opponents.
When a player saved an in-progress Monopoly game, the game was saved as an MNO file. Players could select and load MNO files from Monopoly's main menu to resume their saved games.
NOTE: A repackaged version of Westwood Studios Monopoly was released in 1998. This version also saved in-progress games as MNO files.
How to open an MNO file
If you still have access to Westwood Studios Monopoly (Windows, Mac), you can use it to open your MNO file and resume playing the saved game it contains. Players who do not have access to a PC that supports Westwood Studios Monopoly may be able to find unofficial, updated versions of the game online.
