An MWL file contains a print layout created by Aquaveo SMS and GMS, which are hydrogeology programs used to model surface-water and groundwater resources. It stores information from the Aquaveo XMS Main Graphics Window, such as a map, text, north arrow, scale bar, rectangle, or bitmap, placed in a customized layout for print. MWL files are used for generating reports and presentations.

MWL files are created and opened using the Layout Editor included with the Aquaveo SMS and GMS programs. You can export a print layout as an MWL file by selecting File → Export... . You can import an MWL file by selecting File → Import... .
