What is a PACKAGE file?

A PACKAGE file is a resource package file used by various Electronic Arts (EA) games, including The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, The Sims Online, Spore, SimCity 4, and SimCity (2013). It stores an archive of one or more game files, often in XML format, and may include 3D models, textures, sounds, and other game data, such as characters and neighborhood information. PACKAGE files are saved in EA's standard DBPF archive format.

FOREVER Art Kit Package

A PACKAGE file contains an art kit for FOREVER Artisan, a digital scrapbooking application. It stores scrapbooking content, such as page templates, cards, seasonal decorations, and creative splatters, which can be added to scrapbook projects. PACKAGE files are typically purchased and downloaded from the FOREVER online store and imported into the program.

Digital art kits may also be saved in an SBKIT or PAKIT file. You can import a kit in Artisan by selecting "Import content" from the Home menu.

MOBILedit Forensic Express Update Package

A PACKAGE file may also be an offline update package used by MOBILedit Forensic Express, a program used to extract and analyze mobile device data. It contains data used to update or add a feature to MOBILedit Forensic Express. Users download MOBILedit PACKAGE files from the Downloads section of the program's website.

MOBILedit Forensic Express is an application that investigators can use to extract data from mobile devices and mobile device backups. They can then use MOBILedit Forensic Express to analyze the data and generate reports.

Periodically, developer Compelson Labs releases updates and add-ons for MOBILedit Forensic Express. These updates are available in the program's online download center. After users log in to the download center, they can download all available updates. Each update is saved as a PACKAGE file. Users can then install their PACKAGE files in MOBILedit Forensic Express.
