What is a VNCLOC file? Connection file created by Screen Sharing, a remote desktop control program included with Mac OS X; saved in an XML format and contains the connection URL for the remote computer; used as a shortcut for re-opening a screen sharing session; created by selecting Connection → Save As... in the Screen Sharing application menu while a sharing session is open.

More Information Before opening a sharing session, the remote computer must have Screen Sharing enabled. You can enable Screen Sharing in the System Preferences by choosing Sharing and then checking the "Screen Sharing" box. The remote computer can specify login and access permissions. To connect to a screen sharing computer for the first time, you can either 1) open the Screen Sharing application (located in /​System/​Library/​CoreServices/​ ), or 2) select Go → Connect to Server... in the Finder and then type vnc://ipaddress/ , where "ipaddress" is the IP address of the remote computer with sharing turned on. VNC is the protocol used for remote desktop control. NOTE: Apple Screen Sharing is not available in macOS.
