What is a DKS file? A DKS file is a settings file used by DupKiller, a Windows program that allows users to search for and delete duplicate files. It specifies how DupKiller searches for and deletes files. DKS files are created by selecting File → Save Settings ... from DupKiller's menu bar.
More Information DKS file open in DupKiller DupKiller is a free, flexible program that Windows users can use to locate and delete similar or duplicate files. It allows users to search for files with the same name, creation time, size, or type, as well as files with similar names. Users can then manually or automatically delete any duplicate files DupKiller finds. Because DupKiller has many settings spread across a variety of screens, it allows users to save their search and file deletion settings in a DKS file. Then, if a user wants to reuse the settings they used to perform a previous search, they can do so by loading their DKS file.

A DKS file may also be a settings file created by Symantec DataKeeper, a backup utility bundled with Symantec PartitionMagic. Because PartitionMagic and DataKeeper are both discontinued, DKS files are obsolete.
More Information
Symantec DataKeeper was a program that could be used to schedule regular file backups. It came bundled with PartitionMagic, which was a hard disk drive partitioning program. DataKeeper allowed users to save their backup settings as DKS files.
Symantec released the last version of PartitionMagic in 2004, and the company stopped supporting the program in 2009. As a result, it is unlikely that you will be able to acquire DataKeeper if you do not already own it.
How to open a DKS file
If you still have access to Symantec DataKeeper (Windows), you may be able to load your DKS file in that program. Because the type of data DKS files contain is unknown, whether other programs can open them is also unknown.
