An EXB file may also be a database file created by Evernote, a program used for capturing personal notes. It stores all of the information about an Evernote account, which includes notes, attached files, user information, and account settings.

Most Evernote users will not encounter EXB files since they store information that is referenced by Evernote instead of being directly opened by users. EXB files are not meant to be opened and modifying, moving, or deleting the files could cause users to lose notes, attachments, and other important information about their account.
Since EXB files store all of the information for an Evernote user on the local computer, the files may grow very large in size. If a user only uses the web version of Evernote and does not use the app on the desktop, he can delete it. This will cause all of the account information stored locally to be deleted.
The user can also use the on demand sync option in Evernote to reduce the size of the EXB file. This will save space on the user's computer but also increase the time it takes for the user to search his information. To enable the on demand sync option, select Tools → Options → Synchronization and choose "Enable on demand sync."
