How to open an ASS file

To view the contents of or edit an ASS file, you should open it in Aegisub . To do so, open Aegisub, select File → Open Subtitles... , and then open your ASS file.

If you don't have access to or don't want to install Aegisub, you can also view an ASS file's contents using any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), and GitHub Atom .

If you want to use an ASS file as a subtitle track, you can add the file as a subtitle track in VideoLAN VLC media player and other media players. To add an ASS file as a subtitle track in VLC media player, select Subtitles → Add Subtitle File... from the program's menu bar.
