What is a VSIX file? A VSIX file is an extension for Microsoft Visual Studio, an Integrated Development Environment ( IDE ) for Windows. It is used to add one or more features to Visual Studio. Each VSIX file is a .ZIP archive that contains a .VSIXMANIFEST file and the extension's resources.

How to open a VSIX file
To install a VSIX file in Microsoft Visual Studio (Windows), double-click the file on a PC with Visual Studio installed. The VSIX Installer window will appear and walk you through installing the extension your VSIX file contains. (Note that your VSIX file must be compatible with your version of Visual Studio to install correctly.)
If you want to view a VSIX file's constituent files, rename the file to use the .zip extension and expand it as you would any ZIP archive.
