Image format created by Maxwell Render, a photorealistic graphics rendering application; contains high dynamic range (HDR) image data as well as extra render channels (depth buffer, shadow channel, etc.) and lighting adjustments for each emitter contribution; rendered from an .MXS 3D scene file or from another imported image format; used as the native output format for rendered images.
More Information
MXI files save lighting information, which includes the calculations for the light conditions in the scene. This allows users to fine tune or recompute light settings in future renderings. Additionally, Maxwell Render allows users to pause rendering and resume it at a later time, which is useful for generating partial previews.
NOTE: Maxwell images are used for generating photorealistic images in film, animation, architecture, interior design, and product design.
