Overview
What is an SFL file? An SFL file is a data file used by older versions (7 and earlier) of Sound Forge Pro to store regions and markers information regarding a corresponding .WAV audio file (it does not store any audio data). Sound Forge Pro references the information in the SFL file when opening the related WAV file to display the information visually. Version 8 of Sound Forge Pro replaced SFL files with .SFK files.
More Information After editing an audio file with Sound Forge Pro (version 7 or earlier), the software automatically creates an SFL data file in the same directory as the WAV file. Additionally, it uses the same name as the audio file but with the .sfl file extension. For example, an SFL file for an example.wav file is named example.sfl . NOTE: Sonic Foundry initially developed Sound Forge Pro until Sony acquired the software in 2003. Then, MAGIX acquired Sound Forge Pro in 2016.
