It stores an archive of data files that comprise the database formatted according to the OpenDocument standard. ODB files are used to save structured information such as tables and records.
More Information ODB file open in LibreOffice Base 7.6 OpenDocument databases contain a collection of files and folders compressed with Zip compression. They include settings.xml , context.xml , and manifest.xml files, as well as a database folder that contains the following files: properties : stores database settings script : contains table definitions data : contains the current state of the database backup : stores a compressed backup of the last consistent database state log : records changes to the database NOTE: The Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) maintains the OpenDocument standard.

How to open an ODB file
You can open an ODB file in OpenOffice Base (cross-platform) or LibreOffice Base (cross-platform). In OpenOffice Base, select File → Open... from the program's menu bar to open your ODB file.
You can also decompress your ODB file to manually examine the .XML files and database folder it contains. To do so, rename your ODB file to use the .zip extension and then decompress it with any Zip decompression utility, such as 7-Zip (Windows), Apple Archive Utility (Mac), or B1 Free Archiver (cross-platform).

An ODB file may also be an output database created by Abaqus software, a suite of applications that provide finite element analysis (FEA) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) capabilities. It contains a database filled with X-Y data objects organized into two columns (X and Y). Examples of data in an ODB file include load vs. displacement, stress vs. strain, and temperature vs. time of engineering-related simulations.
More Information
The first version of Abaqus was released in 1978 (formerly ABAQUS) and has since grown into a suite of applications prominent in various commercial and academic mechanical engineering industries. Some industry examples include aerospace and automotive.
You can create ODB files to store databases generated from engineering simulations conducted by Abaqus software. After creating the databases, you can open ODB files to view and manipulate their data for visualization and analysis purposes.
However, depending on the Abaqus version that created the ODB file, the file may be read-only. To modify a read-only ODB file, you must uncheck the "Read Only" option near the bottom of the Open Database dialog box when opening the file.
How to open an ODB file
You can open an ODB file with the Abaqus suite of applications. To open an ODB file, select File → Open .
Abaqus can open ODB files created by previous versions of the software but cannot open ODB files created by later versions. For example, Abaqus 2019 can open ODB files created by version 2017 but not version 2021.

An ODB file contains data extracted from a Windows PC using Oxygen Forensics KeyScout, a component of Oxygen Forensics Detective. The data an ODB file contains may include a user's Internet passwords, cookies, history, bookmarks, autofill data, iTunes backups, Wi-Fi hotspot passwords, and operating system artifacts. ODB files can be imported into Oxygen Forensics JetEngine to view the data they contain.
More Information
Oxygen Forensics Detective is a data extraction and analysis toolset that forensic investigators use to retrieve user data from PCs and mobile devices. Oxygen Forensics KeyScout is a Detective tool that extracts Internet-related data, such as a user's passwords, tokens, and browsing history, from Windows PCs. KeyScout can extract data from many applications and web browsers, including WhatsApp Desktop, iCloud, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer.
Most of the data KeyScout extracts is saved in ODB files. After saving data in an ODB file, investigators can load and analyze that data in Oxygen Forensics JetEngine, another Forensics Detective tool.
How to open an ODB file
You can open an ODB file using Oxygen Forensics JetEngine, which is included with Oxygen Forensics Detective. To do so, open JetEngine and select Backup Import . Then, select and open your ODB file.
