What is a PMXML file? A PMXML file is a project plan created by Oracle Primavera P6, a project management application. It contains XML-formatted data used to show a project's included tasks, timeline, materials, and other required resources in Primavera. PMXML files are similar to .XER files, except they are saved in an XML format that other project management applications can open and process more easily.

How to open a PMXML file
You can open a PMXML file in Oracle Primavera. To do so, select File → Import → Primavera P6 - (XML) . You can also open PMXML files in any project management application that uses the MPXJ library.

Opening a PMXML file in a source code or text editor will show the raw XML text the file contains. Parsing a PMXML file's data in text form will likely be more difficult than opening the file and viewing its contents in a project management application.
