A PSW file may also be a text document created by Pocket Word, a portable word processor developed for Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices. It contains document text, formatting, images, and other document data. PSW files are uncommon, so many word processing programs no longer support them.

Pocket Word was developed as a portable version of Microsoft Word. However, current versions of Microsoft Word no longer support the PSW file format. So, if you want to open your PSW file in Microsoft Word, you must first convert it to a DOC or .DOCX file.
