An RTM file may also be an audio module format used by Real Tracker, a discontinued DOS-based music-tracking program. It contains multiple tracks, patterns, and instrument sample data a user arranged with Real Tracker to create a composition.

More Information

Carlos Hasan released Real Tracker in the mid-1990s as a DOS-based audio tracker for composing and playing module music. While it was not as widely known as other trackers like FastTracker or Scream Tracker, musicians in the demoscene still used it to compose electronic music on older PC hardware.

Since Real Tracker was designed for MS-DOS, it has become largely obsolete, and most users have moved on to modern digital audio workstations ( DAWs ) or more advanced trackers, such as OpenMPT and Renoise. However, some retro computing enthusiasts and chiptune artists still use the software.

How to open an RTM file

You can open RTM files with Real Tracker in Windows. However, the software is no longer developed.
