Instead, they are Zip-compressed archives that contain the text, image, and other files that make up a note. In 2020, Samsung replaced the SDOC format with the .SDOCX format. Now, when users open SDOC files in Samsung Notes, the app automatically converts those files into SDOCX files. "Sealed" Word document ( .DOC file) created by Oracle's IRM document protection software; locks the document so that it can only be viewed by a user with sufficient rights; used for securing the distribution of business documents and email attachments.

More Information

IRM software also sometimes integrates into corporate Word installations and provides an option to "seal" a document after editing it.

NOTE: Oracle IRM software also creates several other sealed file types, such as sealed .PDF files ( .SPDF extension).
