An EDL file may also be an audio file created by Vibrants EdLib, an AdLib editor that emulates the Yamaha YM3812, or OPL2, sound chip. It contains one or more synthesized audio tracks that can be edited by EdLib and exported as a .D00 compressed audio file. EDL files also include metadata , such as the name of the song and composer.
More Information
The EdLib program can be used to create and save EDL files. You can then close and reopen them for further editing. EDL files are typically 3 to 9 KB in size.
The Yamaha YM3812 sound chip was created by Yamaha in 1985. It was used in a variety of sound cards, including Sound Blaster, Pro AudioSpectrum (8 bit), AdLib, and in several arcade games.
NOTE: EdLib was developed by Jens-Christian Huug (JCH) of Vibrants.
