Overview
What is an MCWORLD file? An MCWORLD file is a Zip archive that contains all the files needed to load a Minecraft Bedrock or Education Edition world. Players often use MCWORLD files to back up their worlds or share them with other players. Each MCWORLD file contains multiple behavior and resource files, such as .DAT and .TXT files.
More Information If a Minecraft Bedrock or Education Edition player wants to share a world they created with another player, they can package that world into an MCWORLD file. To do so, the player must: Find the world's directory in Minecraft's ~/game/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds directory. (On some devices, Minecraft worlds are not viewable unless saved to external storage. If your minecraftWorlds directory is empty, this is likely the cause.) Copy the directory and zip it into a .ZIP file. Rename the ZIP file to use the .mcworld extension. Some player-created tools automatically package players' worlds as MCWORLD files, to make sharing worlds easier. For example, Minecraft Launcher can automatically package worlds as MCWORLD files. After saving a world as an MCWORLD file, players can upload them to world-sharing websites such as MCPEDL.com. Other players can then download the MCWORLD file and open it to play in the world it contains.

How to open an MCWORLD file
To open an MCWORLD file in Minecraft Bedrock or Education Edition, double-click (or otherwise open) the file. Minecraft will then automatically import the world your MCWORLD file contains. If this doesn't work, you can try manually importing the world by moving the MCWORLD file to the ~/game/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds directory and decompressing it.
You can also view an MCWORLD file's contents using any Zip-decompression utility, such as 7-Zip (Windows), Apple Archive Utility (Mac), or B1 Free Archiver (multiplatform). You may have to rename the file's extension to .zip before you can decompress it.
