What is an RP file? Project file created by Axure RP, a wireframing and prototyping tool; contains a diagram that may include text fields, buttons, images, and other visual elements; used for creating mockups and preliminary designs before implementation.

NOTE: RP project files differ from .RPPRJ shared projects, since shared projects are created on a network volume or within a Subversion version control system.

An RP file may also be a multimedia file used by RealNetworks' RealPlayer software. It stores an animation or slide show with images, audio, and synchronized text or captions. RP files are saved in the RealPix (RP) format, which is similar to the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language ( .SMIL ) format that includes text-based markup defining the multimedia presentation.
More Information
RealPix was particularly popular during the late 1990s and early 2000s when bandwidth limitations required efficient multimedia formats. This constraint led RealPix to design the RP format to be lightweight to minimize file size and load times for streaming presentations over the Internet.
How to open an RP file
You can open RP files with RealNetworks RealPlayer 20/20 in Windows. To open an RP file, select File → Open .
