What is a DSS file? A DSS file is a configuration backup created by DiskStation Manager (DSM), a web-based operating system included with Synology network-attached storage (NAS) devices. It contains settings for a system, which includes users, groups, shared folders, workgroup, domain, passwords, and file sharing methods. DSS files can be used to restore settings to a system's configuration.
