An MWD file contains a shortcut created by MyWorkDrive Mapped Drive Client for Windows, a program that allows users to map a drive to files so they can securely and remotely access and edit them. It stores a link to a file or folder stored on the MyWorkDrive that can be accessed by a user with the appropriate file sharing permissions.

MWD files can be opened in Windows by double-clicking them. However, the MyWorkDrive Mapped Drive client must be installed and set as the default program for opening the MWD files. When you double-click the MWD file, the folder or file linked in the file will open in the MyWorkDrive Mapped Drive Client.
