What is a TA1 file? A TA1 file is a 2021 U.S. tax return created with TaxAct 2021, a program used to prepare taxes for the 2021 tax year. It contains a user's 2021 income tax information, for use on tax form 1040. It also contains the user's personal information, including their name, date of birth, marital status, occupation, social security number, and number of dependents.

More Information TaxAct is a tax preparation program that U.S. residents can use to prepare and file Federal and State tax returns. It is available for Windows, in versions named for each tax year, and as an online application. TaxAct 2021 users can save their form 1040 data as TA1 files. This allows them to close and reopen TaxAct 2021 and continue working on their taxes. TaxAct 2021 saves TA1 files in the following location by default: My Documents/​TaxAct2021 You can also create a backup of your 2021 tax return, which is saved in a separate .BA1 file. To do so, you must: Save your return as a TA1 file. Select File → Backup... and save your return as a BA1 file. NOTE: Previous Windows versions of TaxAct saved users' returns as .TA0 , .TA9 , .TA8 , and so on files.
