What is an MFLINK file? An MFLINK file is a desktop shortcut, or "link," created by M-Files Desktop, which is the primary user interface for the M-Files electronic content management (ECM) system. It contains data about a file stored in an organization's M-Files vault. Double-clicking an MFLINK file opens the related file in M-Files Desktop (provided you have the credentials necessary to open the file).

Selecting Get Hyperlink... → Create M-Files shortcut (.mflink) . An MFLINK file then appears on the user's desktop. Double-clicking the MFLINK file opens the file it is a shortcut to in M-Files Desktop. NOTE: Users can also create normal .LNK Windows shortcuts after selecting Get Hyperlink... . These shortcuts open the related file in the Windows application associated with that file type. (For example, a .DOCX file would open in Microsoft Word.)
