What is a CYP file? A CYP file is a project file created by Ashampoo 3D CAD Architecture, Ashampoo 3D CAD Professional, or Ashampoo Home Design. It contains a home design plan. CYP files may contain 2D and/or 3D plans, which are used to model new home construction, site planning, add-ons, and remodeling plans.

A CYP file may also be a project file created by Home Designer Pro, a home designing application for do-it-yourself enthusiasts. The CYP format supports both 2D and 3D plans as well as site planning. Home Designer Pro is used to model custom home construction as well as remodeling projects.

Home Designer Pro home projects support floor plans, framing, roofs, windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, and other home features. You can take a virtual tour of your project after it is constructed. Home Designer Pro installs with a large collection of sample projects.
NOTE: Chief Architect Home Designer Pro no longer uses CYP files. Instead, it uses PLAN and LAYOUT files.
How to open a CYP file
While Chief Architect Home Designer Pro no longer supports CYP files, you may be able to open your file in Ashampoo 3D CAD Architecture, Ashampoo 3D CAD Professional, or Ashampoo Home Design (Windows). These programs also save home design files as CYP files.
