Overview
What is an MDE file? Add-in file used by Microsoft Access, a program used for managing relational databases; stores the compiled version of an .MDA file, which contains Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) source code; protects the contents of the add-in by storing it in a compiled, binary format.
More Information Archicad is a building information modeling (BIM) application for designing and visualizing interiors, exteriors, landscapes, and whole structures. The software provides many helpful design tools, including modules that function as master templates you can "hotlink" or embed in projects. The standard version of Archicad creates a MOD file to store a module. However, the Education version of Archicad creates an MDE file to store a module. The module formats are the same, but they use different file extensions.

An MDE file may also be a module created by the Education version of GRAPHISOFT Archicad architectural design software. It is the same as an Archicad Module .MOD file, but is only supported by the Education version of Archicad. The MDE format is no longer developed and is considered a legacy format.
