Clickteam Fusion Project

An MFW file may also be a project file created by Clickteam Fusion, an app-creation platform. It contains references to the .MFA (Clickteam Fusion Application) files included in a Fusion project. The MFW format allows Fusion users to simultaneously save and open multiple, related applications.

Clickteam Fusion is an app-creation platform that developers can use to develop simple video games and other applications. Fusion applications are saved in MFA files. If a developer is developing several related Fusion applications at the same time, they can save those applications as a Fusion project. The project is saved as an MFW file.

MFW files contain references to each application a project includes. Fusion uses these references to find and load each application when a developer opens the MFW file. If a developer has moved or renamed an MFA file that an MFW file references, Fusion will not be able to open that application as part of the project.

You can open an MFW file in Clickteam Multimedia Fusion (Windows). When you do, Fusion will open the applications (MFA files) your MFW file references, provided they are stored in the locations listed in your MFW file.

MediaTek Smart-Clip Update File

An MFW file may also be an update file for a MediaTek-powered mobile phone, including certain Alcatel, Motorola, and Vodafone phones. It contains data used to update a phone's software or firmware . MFW files are used by various update utilities, such as Alcatel One Touch Manager and SmartMoto, when a phone is connected to a PC using a Smart-Clip.

Smart-Clip is a SIM unlocking device that can unlock and reset users' mobile phones. It also allows users to flash update files to their phones. These updates are saved in MFW files.

There are three types of MFW files. The first, .reflash.mfw , updates a user's software without erasing the user's data. The second, .flash_flex.mfw , updates a user's software but also changes some basic settings, so could erase some of a user's data. The third, .full_flash.mfw , completely overwrites the phone's previous firmware and will erase all of a user's data.

You can flash an MFW file to your MediaTek-powered phone while it is connected to a PC using a Smart-Clip. For more specific instructions, refer to the documentation you received with your mobile phone, update utility, and/or Smart-Clip.
