WolframScript provides various capabilities, including running Wolfram Language Packages (WL and M files) locally and in the cloud from the command line. You can save scripts to preserve their commands as WLS files within the WolframScript utility in Mathematica.
For example, to create a WolframScript, select File → Package/Script → WolframScript Script (.wls) . Mathematica will open the WolframScript utility, allowing you to create a script. You can then save it as a WLS file by selecting File → Save .
How to open a WLS file
You can open WLS files with Wolfram Research Mathematica . To open a WLS file with Mathematica, select File → Open .
You can also open WLS files with source code or text editors, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code , Microsoft Notepad , and Apple TextEdit .

A WLS file may also be a spreadsheet created by 602Tab, a Microsoft Excel alternative included with Software602 602PC SUITE. It contains data that appears in a grid of horizontal rows and vertical columns when viewed in a spreadsheet program. WLS files are compatible with Microsoft Excel.

602PC SUITE was a Czech productivity suite that mimicked Microsoft applications. It contained 602Text, a text editor, and 602Tab, a spreadsheet program. 602Tab saved users' spreadsheets as WLS files. (602Text saved users' documents as .WPD files.)
In 2004, 602 Software discontinued 602PC SUITE and replaced it with 602Office, which was developed using open source code contained in Apache OpenOffice. 602Office is now also discontinued.
How to open a WLS file
If you still have access to 602Tab (Windows), you can open your WLS file in that program. Otherwise, you may be able to open your WLS file in Microsoft Excel (Windows, Mac) or another spreadsheet program.
