What is a PFS file? A PFS file is a selection file created by PhotoFiltre Studio, an image retouching program. It contains coordinates used by the image editor's polygon selection tool in order to draw lines between the given coordinates. PFS files are stored in plain text.
More Information When the code within a PFS file is run by PhotoFiltre Studio, coordinates are connected by lines. Upon reaching the last coordinate, a line joins back to the starting point. Strictly speaking, the selection file is just a regular plain text file, however it is saved in the PFS file instead of a .TXT file.

A PFS file may also be a resource archive created using the Artemis Engine, a visual novel scripting engine. It contains images, text, audio, and/or other data used by an Artemis Engine visual novel. PFS files are often appended with an additional numeric extension, such as .000 , .001 , or .002 .
More Information
Visual novels, or VNs, are interactive, text-based stories that often allow "readers" to determine their outcome. Visual novels are most popular in Japan, though some have been released outside Japan.
Developers use a number of game engines to create visual novels. The Artemis Engine is one such game engine. Artemis Engine VNs typically contain one or more PFS archives, which contain game assets, such as in-game images, text, and audio. PFS archives are similar to the .XP3 and .XP4 archives used by the KiriKiri visual novel engine.
How to open a PFS file
You can open a PFS file and examine the files it contains using GARbro (Windows). GARbro is a visual novel resource browser, which allows users to open and extract resources from a variety of visual novel archives.
