What is an XTG file? File created by TreeGraph 2, a program used to build and annotate phylogenetic trees; stores a phylogenetic tree in the XML-based Extensible TreeGraph (XTG) format; includes annotations and formatting information.

The phylogenetic trees, also called evolutionary trees, are commonly used to study the genetic relationships between biological species. NOTE: TreeGraph was published in the BMC Bioinformatics journal. The software was developed in Java and requires version 1.6.0 of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
