What is an A52 file? An A52 file is an Atari 5200 game ROM. It contains a complete copy of the data stored on an Atari 5200 game cartridge. You can load an A52 file in an Atari 5200 emulator to play the game it contains.

NOTE: Atari discontinued the Atari 5200 in 1984.

An A52 file may also be an audio file saved in the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) A/52 format. It contains compressed audio meant to be played as part of a TV show or movie. The A/52 format is based on Dolby Laboratories' AC-3 format (used to create .AC3 files).

The second version of the format, known as A/52b, was designed primarily for use with Blu-rays and HD DVDs.
