An SCG file may also be a bitmap image created by RIX SoftWorks ColoRIX, a paint application for MS-DOS. Most SCG files contain color images that a user drew in ColoRIX. Modern operating systems cannot run ColoRIX, but you can open SCG files with XnViewMP , a free image viewer.

RIX SoftWorks was a software publisher that released multiple paint programs in the 1980s and 90s. ColoRIX was the most popular of these programs.

Various versions of ColoRIX saved images in different formats, including the .RIX , .SCI , and SCG formats. Each SCG file contains an 800 x 600 pixel image, which may include up to 16 colors.
