Overview
What is a GP5 file? A GP5 file is a tablature file created by Guitar Pro 5 or exported by Guitar Pro 6. It stores a musical score or composition in a proprietary format for an instrument, such as guitar, bass, or banjo. GP5 files do not store actual audio data; they contain instruments and musical notes simulated by the Guitar Pro engine during playback.
More Information GP5 file open in Arobas Music Guitar Pro 7.6 Arobas Music originally developed Guitar Pro as a tablature editor for Windows. However, it expanded the software to Mac OS X in July 2006. Guitar Pro includes various notation editing tools and enables you to convert scores to several audio and document formats. By default, each new version of Guitar Pro saves tabs as a file type corresponding with the software version. For example, Guitar Pro 5 saves tabs as GP5 files, Guitar Pro 4 saves tabs as .GP4 files, and Guitar Pro 3 saves tabs as .GP3 files. Even though Guitar Pro replaces file types with each new version, the software still supports previous Guitar Pro file types.

A GP5 file may also be a project file created by Sony's PlayStation 5 software development kit ( SDK ). It contains data used to package a PlayStation 5 (PS5) game development project into a .PKG file. Developers create GP5 files with GP5 Generator for PS5, also known as GP5 Editor.
More Information
To create games for the PlayStation 5, developers must apply for and receive a copy of the official PS5 SDK. This kit contains several proprietary development, publishing, and testing tools, including GP5 Generator for PS5.
Using GP5 Generator, a developer can create a GP5 file for a game development project. This file contains a record of all the files included in the project and those files' locations. When the developer uses the PS5 SDK to create a finalized game package, they must specify their project's GP5 file. The SDK's Package Generator uses this file to build the resulting game package.
NOTE: At times, developers refer to GP5 Editor as Prospero GP5 Editor. This is because the PS5's pre-release codename was Prospero.
How to open a GP5 file
GP5 files are not meant to be opened. Developers who have access to Sony's PlayStation 5 SDK can use the kit's Package Generator to load GP5 files and create resulting PKG files.
